Printer Driver Problem in Windows 11
Identify the exact printer model and installed queue before replacing drivers. Windows can install many printers automatically, but manufacturer drivers may provide missing features or fix compatibility problems.
Start hereIf printing broke after a driver update, Windows also supports rolling the driver back when that option is available.
What to check
Step 1
Confirm the exact printer model.
Do not choose a driver based only on a similar-looking model family.
Step 2
Check whether Windows installed a generic or unexpected queue.
Duplicate queues and WSD-created generic drivers can make the device appear installed while features or printing fail.
Step 3
Download the current driver from the manufacturer's official support site when appropriate.
Microsoft's current guidance explicitly points users to the printer manufacturer's official driver/download section.
Step 4
If the issue began immediately after a driver update, check rollback.
Device Manager can offer Roll Back Driver for some printer/print-queue devices.
Step 5
Retest with a Windows test page before testing a complex application.
This separates a driver/queue problem from an application-specific print issue.
