About Printer Triage

Printer Triage is an independent troubleshooting site built to help ordinary people figure out what is actually wrong with a printer before they start replacing parts, reinstalling software, changing settings, or paying someone for help.

Built for people who are not technicians

You should not need to understand printer ports, IP addresses, Windows services, or networking terms just to start troubleshooting. Printer Triage begins with plain-English questions and simple checks. When a technical check is useful, the site explains how to do it step by step.

Diagnosis first

Instead of giving you a long list of unrelated fixes, Printer Triage starts with what you can see and asks simple questions to narrow the problem down. The goal is to separate printer hardware, network connectivity, Windows queue or port problems, drivers, consumables, scanners, and other common causes before recommending a change.

Safe steps before expensive steps

Whenever possible, troubleshooting starts with actions that are easy to undo and unlikely to create a second problem. Factory resets, service procedures, major network changes, and other disruptive steps should not be the first answer when a simpler check can narrow the problem down.

Error codes with context

When a printer displays an error code or message, Printer Triage uses model-specific information where it is available and explains what the code means, what you can safely check, and when a repair or manufacturer service procedure is the appropriate next step.

What Printer Triage will never ask you to do

Important trust boundaryPrinter Triage does not operate a phone-support line or remote-access support service. We will not ask you to install remote-control software, buy gift cards, send cryptocurrency, provide banking information, or call an unknown “support” number to continue troubleshooting.

If a person, pop-up, advertisement, or website claims to be Printer Triage phone support or asks for remote access or unusual payment methods, that is not this site.

Independent troubleshooting reference

Printer Triage is not affiliated with printer manufacturers. Manufacturer documentation is used for model-specific errors and procedures whenever available, and instructions are limited to the models or families for which they apply.
