Printer won't print from Mac
Start with the printer, then check the Mac's print queue. There is no need to delete or reset everything at once.
1. Check the printer
If the printer can print its own test or status page, try one. If that page will not print either, fix the paper, jam, ink/toner, or printer message first.
2. Make sure the right printer is selected
Open your document, choose File → Print, and make sure the printer you actually want is selected.
3. Check Print Center
- Open Apple menu → System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
- Click your printer.
- Open the Printer Queue.
- If you see Resume, click it. If one job has an error, remove only that job.
4. Try another program
Print a simple page from Preview or TextEdit. If that works, the printer is okay and the original program or document is probably the problem.
5. Remove and add this one printer again
If nothing prints, remove just this printer from Printers & Scanners and add it again. Use AirPrint if your printer supports it.
6. Use the printer maker's software only if you need it
Some printers need their own Mac software for special features. Get it only from the printer manufacturer's official support page.
7. Save Reset Printing System for last
A full reset removes all printers and printer presets from the Mac. Try the simpler steps above first.
