Printer works on one computer, but not another
The working computer is a useful clue. The printer is probably on and connected, so start with the computer that cannot print.
1. Compare the Wi-Fi or network
On the computer that does not work, click the Wi-Fi/network area near the clock. Make sure it is on the same home or office network as the working computer. Guest or Visitor Wi-Fi can block access to the printer.
2. See whether Windows has the printer
- Open Start → Settings.
- Go to Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Look for the printer.
If it is missing, choose Add device and let Windows search.
3. If the printer is listed, print a Windows test page
- Click the printer.
- Open Printer properties.
- Click Print Test Page.
If the test page prints, the printer setup on that computer is working. A problem in only one program is probably a program or document issue.
4. If the test page does not print
Check the print queue for a paused or stuck job. If the printer is on the network but still will not print, use the network printer won't print guide.
5. If the printer is shared from another Windows computer
The computer sharing it must be turned on and available. If the printer connects directly to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, you usually do not need Windows printer sharing.
