Windows does not recognize the USB printer
If plugging in the printer does nothing, start with the cable and USB connection before assuming the driver is broken.
Reconnect both ends of the cable
Push the cable firmly into the printer and computer. Wait a few seconds to see whether Windows reacts.
Try another USB port
If another port works, leave the printer there. You do not need to reinstall the whole printer just because one port did not respond.
Look in Printers & scanners
Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners. If the printer is already listed, test that existing printer before removing it.
If it is missing, use Add device
Click Add device and let Windows search. If Windows still cannot see the printer, try a known-good USB cable if one is available.
Only then move to driver troubleshooting
If the cable and ports are good but Windows still cannot identify the printer, use Windows Update or the printer maker's official support site. Do not use a third-party driver-download utility.
