Printer pulls two or more sheets at once

Paper can stick together, the tray can be too full, or the guides can be holding the stack incorrectly. Try a small clean stack before assuming the printer needs repair.

Quick testRemove the paper and reload only 10–20 sheets of clean, dry paper of the same size and type.
Step 1

Use one kind of paper

Do not mix Letter and A4, plain and photo paper, or noticeably different weights in the same tray for this test.

Step 2

Separate the sheets

If the pages feel stuck together, loosen the stack gently and line the edges up again.

Step 3

Use less paper

Make sure the tray is not overfilled. A smaller stack is useful for testing even when the tray does not look full.

Step 4

Set the guides

Move the paper guides so they lightly touch the stack. They should not bend the paper or leave a wide gap.

Step 5

Try several pages

If the printer now feeds one sheet at a time, the stack or tray setup was the cause. If it still grabs multiple sheets, the separation or pickup parts may need model-specific cleaning or service.
