Printer stopped working after a new router or Wi-Fi change

If the router, internet provider, Wi-Fi name, or Wi-Fi password changed, the printer may still be trying to use the old network. You usually do not need a new printer or a computer repair.

Start hereDo not factory-reset the printer or router. First reconnect the printer to the same Wi-Fi your computer or phone is using.

1. Check the Wi-Fi name on your computer or phone

Open Wi-Fi settings and look for the network marked Connected. Remember that name.

2. Check the printer

If the printer has a screen, open Wi-Fi, Wireless, or Network. If it shows the old network name, or shows no Wi-Fi connection, it needs to be connected again.

3. Reconnect using the printer's normal setup

Use the printer's own Wireless Setup Wizard, network setup menu, WPS option, or the printer maker's official setup app. Enter the new Wi-Fi password when asked.

Printers without a screen often have a Wi-Fi setup mode. The button combination is different by model, so use the instructions for the exact model rather than a random reset video.

4. Try one page

Once the printer shows the same Wi-Fi name as your device, try the original print job again. If it works, stop here.

5. If the printer is connected but still cannot be found

Use the printer is on Wi-Fi but cannot be found guide. If only Windows still says Offline, use the Windows offline guide instead.
