Wi-Fi printer keeps going offline

If the printer works after a restart but later becomes unavailable again, look for a repeating connection problem before reinstalling everything.

One clue matters a lotNotice whether every device loses the printer, or only one computer does. That tells you where to focus.

1. When it goes offline, check the printer's Wi-Fi

Look for the Wi-Fi symbol or network name on the printer. If the printer itself has dropped off the network, focus on the printer-to-router connection.

2. Check another device if you can

If another computer or phone can still print, the printer is probably still connected. Troubleshoot the one device that lost it instead of resetting the printer.

3. If every device loses the printer

Restart the printer normally and check that it reconnects to the same home Wi-Fi. If this began after a new router, internet provider, Wi-Fi name, or password change, use the new-router reconnect guide.

4. If only Windows loses it after router or printer restarts

The printer may have received a different IP address while Windows still has the old one. Use the printer IP changed in Windows guide before reinstalling drivers.

5. Check the location

If the printer is far from the router or behind several walls, temporarily move it closer if practical and see whether the problem stops. Do not change advanced router settings just to test signal strength.
