How to Clear the Print Queue in Windows 11
If a print job is stuck on Printing, Deleting, or Error, clear the queue before reinstalling the printer. Most stuck jobs can be fixed without changing the printer setup.
Quick checks
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Choose the affected printer and open its print queue.
- Cancel the failed job or choose Cancel all if every listed job is disposable.
- Wait for the queue to empty before sending a new test.
Try these fixes in order
Open the printer queue
Press Start, open Settings, then go to Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners. Select your printer and choose Open print queue.
Cancel the stuck job
Use the job menu or the queue controls to cancel the failed item. If several old jobs are blocking the printer, cancel only what you are comfortable resending.
Wait for the job to disappear
Do not keep clicking Print while Windows is deleting the job. Give it a short moment to finish.
Retry one simple page
When the queue is empty, print a short document or Windows test page. If it prints, the queue problem is resolved.
If the job still will not clear, restart the Print Spooler
The Windows Print Spooler manages queued jobs. Restarting it is a deeper step, but it is still less disruptive than deleting and reinstalling the printer.
Let Printer Triage narrow it down
